Merry Christmas! We had our first family “vacation” this year with a trip to Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine. We enjoyed swim time, PJ dance parties, a trip to the Perot Museum in Dallas and one to the Children’s Museum in Fort Worth. My favorite activity was this gem of a place we found in the Grapevine Mall. The arcade was huge! Farrah, Callie, and Jasmine enjoyed the indoor playground while Ray and Olivia played video games. Because it was a typical school day before the holiday break, we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Quite lovely!
I’d been looking forward to Dickens on the Strand since our fun experience there last year. This year, Grandma joined us, and we also met up with Sherina and her crew. Circus acts, singing troupes, bird shows, a magic show, old-fashioned shakes & malts, lunch at Fisherman’s Wharf, and a visit to the toy store… it was a fun day!
There’s something called a “sensitive Santa” for kids with special needs, and we were blessed to get in on this event with limited availability. Callie had a private appointment with an awesome Santa! We spent 15 whole minutes with just Santa in a wonderfully decorated setting with several of his “elves”. Santa knew all about Callie’s interests, and engaged with her quite well. Callie requested that he brings her goldfish crackers for Christmas!
Here is me and Ray at his company’s holiday party at Peli Peli.
At the time of this writing, we are officially on Christmas break from school. We’ve enjoyed some very lazy days at home lately! Here’s us decorating gingerbread houses and painting:
For Christmas Day, we decided to spend the time visiting family. We dropped by the homes of the Schloughs, the Costons, my mom, and my dad. It was nice to be able to control the length of the visit and come home to a quiet, clean house at the end of the day.
Santa brought a camera for Olivia, a DIY crystal jewelry set for Farrah, a princess dress for Callie, and a Baby Alive Potty Dance Baby for Jasmine. Other gifts for the girls included cash, break-open geodes, a new Moana wig, a couple of puzzles, PJ Masks costume, and Legos. I received a beautiful new coat from the girls and a new blender from Ray.
This weekend, we hung out in Houston – the Galleria, Rice Village, and IKEA! It’s worth writing about because we had such a fun time! I’m really looking forward to more awesome memories in 2019.
