We are officially a foster home for kittens placed at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter! We’ve had 3 sweet kittens – Max, Romeo, and Cricket (named by Olivia and Farrah) – for the past several weeks. It’s been a fun experience for all of us, and it’s nice to see these girls step up their level of responsibility. They’ve done ALL the work (with the exception of my help with bathing them and occasional assistance capturing a laundry room escapee! Before we received the call about these kittens, Olivia had already been doing so much research on kittens and fostering – late nights watching “The Kitten Lady” on YouTube, pulling up online resources and lists, etc. She has learned SO much about these little creatures! It has been her own self-directed research project, and if I were giving grades, I’d give her an A+!
We’ll return the kittens to the shelter on this upcoming Thursday. They’ll weigh enough to get their spaying/neutering surgery, and then they can be adopted by a forever family. It will be hard to see them go, but I anticipate that we’ll foster more very soon. As it turns out, I’m allergic to cats, so I’ve been keeping my distance (to some degree).
