The girls have been helping out a lot lately with cooking. We started off the school year with “cooking” once a week during school hours, but early on we transitioned to the two big girls having their own days to prepare dinner now. Farrah’s day is Tuesday; Olivia’s is Thursday. Lately, we’ve enjoyed chicken enchiladas, club sandwiches, Sloppy Joe’s sandwiches, sour cream burgers, waffles, a chocolate chip bundt cake, and more for dinner. None of the meals are too complicated, but they’re really getting a feel for food planning and cooking times, practice with chopping veggies, and development of kitchen safety habits.

Callie and Jasmine enjoy helping in the kitchen also, but mainly to prepare easy sweets like breads and muffins.
