I’m catching up here. A recent lesson we had in General Science is the 4 criteria for “life” (or being considered a living thing). One of those criterion is that the organism has DNA, and we learned more about DNA in this lesson that I ever learned in school. We even built our own double helix models with pipe cleaners and pony beads.

Another criterion for life is that organisms must be able to sense and respond to changes in their environment. To demonstrate such, we did the simple, classic earthworm experiment. (Who knew that Walmart sells earthworms?!) After we finished with science on this particular day, we cleaned the worms, seasoned & battered them up, fried them and ate them. (Totally kidding – just seeing if you’re paying attention)!
