We visited Mexico last week – at the Children’s Museum of Houston. We were long overdue for an exciting field trip, and this one hit the spot! Yalalag is a mountain village in Mexico and is currently on exhibit at the museum. We enjoyed visit with friends, and the girls had fun using their imaginations to cook Mexican dishes, shop in the supermarket, ride/drive buses and taxis, hang out in the Mexican school, and make shoes. There was a small  school group in the exhibit when we visited, and those kids and grown-ups were Spanish-speaking; how nice it was to play in the Mexican town while the other “townspeople” were speaking Spanish. It really enhanced the experience for us (or at least for me)! We ended our afternoon with a sack lunch picnic at the nearby McGovern Centennial Gardens, then hurried home to get Callie off the bus.
