The Burgess Bird Book for Children

Scroll down to content

I found this treasure at the library bookstore several months ago, and we’re finally delving into it. The Burgess Bird Book for children is a delightful fictional (and educational) read. Peter Rabbit is the main character, and he goes around to various habitats discovering different birds. The reader learns about where each bird builds its nest, how many young they have, and their migration habits. This book is full of a lot of good information, and I think we’ll take our time reading it, pulling it out from time to time as the kids are interested. We are supplementing this with finding photos, videos, and audio clips of each bird online, plus we’ve begun a journal to document what we learned about each bird. I love the last photo of Farrah dozing off to the song of the nightingale.
