We’ve resumed the Expedition Earth geography curriculum that we began a year ago. The curriculum, provided by Confessions of a Homeschooler (blog), is fun and informative, and I’m looking forward to weekly expeditions to different countries. Last week we covered some basic geography and map-reading: lines of latitude and longitude, the Tropics of Cancer & Capricorn, the Artic & Antarctic Circles, and the equator and prime meridian. The girls did a very simple God’s Creation lapbook that was mainly for fun.
The corresponding literature was “How to Bake an Apple Pie and See the World,” a fun children’s book that takes the reader to various countries to gather the supplies needed to bake a pie. And, of course, we ended this lesson by baking our first ever homemade apple pie!
