Although I have Art listed on my curriculum sheet, we’re a month into the semester and we’ve yet to do any art. While I do still have intentions on incorporating art into our weekly schedule (beginning this week), I thank God for free programs that give the girls an opportunity to be artistic. Both Olivia and Farrah are always doing something crafty at home, but I want something more than simple crafts.
The Tomball Library has a free monthly Art Explorers program for children ages 8-12, and Olivia participated last week. The topic was Jamaica, and they painted a Jamaican sunset. What I like about the Art Explorers program (other than the fact that it’s FREE!) is that they actually learn about artists, art works, and, in this case, the country or region they’re studying. Olivia came back with some neat facts about Jamaica to share with us!
