I recommend this for your first/second grader! Farrah just finished this book (“Hello Mrs. Piggle Wiggle”), and once she started, she couldn’t put it down. She finished it in just a couple of days, and she was able to give me excellent narrations of each chapter. I haven’t personally read this series of books, but it was on our recommended reading list. Apparently, Mrs. Piggle Wiggle is a babysitter and she helps “cure” children of their bad habits, in interesting ways!

I’m not sure which book will come next for her, but I’ll give myself until Saturday to decide. She’s just doing leisure reading this week. I thought she would start “Paddington on Top”, but surprisingly the text seems a bit more advanced than I was expecting it to be, so I’ll save that one for later. Maybe she’ll read the condensed and adapted Junior Classic edition of Peter Pan.

Olivia just finished reading a biography on Ben Franklin, and this week her leisure reading is one of my favorites as a fourth grader – Encyclopedia Brown! Next on the list for her is “Abel’s Island”.
