For $3.50, I was able to pick up from HEB this beautiful aloe vera leaf, and we enjoyed learning more about the plant today. Farrah, who had acquired a new (tiny) cut on her hand just hours before, couldn’t wait to use a bit of juice from the plant to help “soothe” her cut.

Our nature study was simple. We smelled the leaf, cut it open, enjoyed sensory play with the soft spine and juicy inside, and I told them about some of the medicinal purposes of aloe vera. I put some of the leaf in a ziploc bag and stored in the refrigerator for later use, although I’m not sure how long it will last. Guess that’s something else I need to read up on.
