Summer Break is Over… The Real Stuff Begins NOW!

Ahhh, the end of summer break. I know I haven’t written in quite a long time, but that’s just the “busy”ness of summer. I was having some guilty feelings about not having an over-the-top-fun summer, but as I started to think about the things we’ve done, I realize I haven’t been that super lazy mom that I thought I had. Here’s what we’ve gotten into over these past few months:

Houston Museum of Natural Science The Woodlands Children’s Museum Bouncing Bears (an inflatable bounce place) Pump It Up (inflatable bounce place) Several visits to 4 different swimming pools Trip to New Orleans The Lion King Broadway Musical Several visits to 3 area libraries 4th of July Parade & Fireworks Sweet and Sassy Main Event Blackberry picking at Neal’s Berry Farm Incredible Pizza Company IT’Z Family Fun Swimming & playtime at YMCA Birthday Party for Olivia – ice cream and magician Sk8 Town Roller Skating Aerodrome Ice Skating Week with cousins at Grandma’s house 3 days with out-of-town guests Park playground Great Wolf Lodge – Grapevine, TX

There’s still a lot more to do, and I’m thankful to be able to homeschool and spend more time with the girls out and about. We start school TOMORROW with the rest of the local public schools. I didn’t want to go over-the-top with extracurricular classes, so for now these are the “extras” on our list:

Olivia: Paid classes:  Ballet II class, Junior Ballet Co class, Homeschool PE Free Programs:  Kid Lit/Art Explorers,  Story Club

Farrah: Paid classes: Homeschool PE Free Programs: Story Club, Preschool Storytime, Preschool Fitness at YMCA

Callie: Free Programs: Toddler Storytime, Preschool Fitness at YMCA

I’m waiting on the schedules to complete, but I’d like to put Farrah in swim lessons at a place called FINS, and either do swim lessons and/or tennis lesson for Olivia.

I will handle the academics at home – reading, writing, arithmetic, science, English/grammar, history/geography, social studies, art projects.

We’re looking forward to a fun year!
